How did I spend Valentine's Day? Hmmm...let's see. I slept late - till nearly 8! My husband brought me breakfast in bed, artfully arranged on the tray he purchased last night at Wal-mart. Funny - he gave me the same card that I almost bought for him. I traded cards at the last minute. This happens to us often.
Then the romance nose dived ..... I did taxes, cleaned house, did laundry, went to band practice, took a nap, and washed the dishes. I am about to download some love songs for the Pillowtalk series and then watch Lost.
Lest you think all is lost, earlier this week Shawn left me m&m's with a love note, brought me my favorite coffee to school, an armful of wildflowers, and sang to me over the intercom at school. Yes....live..... Our announcements are live feed over the T.V. So Shawn surprised me by singing "After All These Years" by Journey. Very wow.
Oh....and don't forget tomorrow's the big day. We are going away for an overnight. No idea where....it's a complete surprise. I have been very careful not to ask or snoop for clues. I have even avoided talking to any of his friends about the weekend and have instructed my children to not tell me anything they may know. So I am very excited. I love romantic get-aways. Can't wait to see how Shawn likes the blue dress.
Valentine's Day is my favorite holiday. I get way more excited about it than Christmas. I guess because it's the one day a year that Shawn and I really celebrate still being in love after so many years. Wishing you a happy Valentine's Day as well.
