Okay, must confess that I haven't checked out Shawn's personal blog in quite a very, very long time....cause it hasn't shown any new posts in my google reader since early December. No reason to visit if you are not writing, right? But after 5 cups of coffee, I still can't sleep, and am bored, so thought I would go check out the family pics, etc. Interested? www.walkthetrail.blogspot.com is his personal blog.
So I see "links" over the side. "My hot wife" stands out a bit. So immediately I'm wondering....what pictures is he posting exactly? And how much trouble is he going to be in? But instead it's a link to my blog. Very cute! That with his twitter about my rock star self today gives him major brownie points.
Some of my friends like to keep up with the odd thoughts that rattle around in my head. It turns out that my thoughts are more random than any of us really imagined. You have been warned. Read with caution.

Yes, I'm cheating...get over it!
It's nearly midnight. I skipped blogging last night and feel obligated to post something tonight. So, I am cheating and copying a post from my husband's blog www.blazingthetrail.blogspot.com. Very awesome writer, my husband is. I am finally even reading his blog on a daily basis now that I've discovered how to use google reader on my computer at school. I can't comment back on anybody's blogs, but at least now I can read them during the 12 hours or so I spend there every day. But, shhh....don't tell him I wasn't a regular reader before. It's just such a hassle to go to every blog link that you want to keep up with. Love google reader that brings all the blogs together in one spot.
Oh, wait, I am off track again. Today I took a short break from entering grades on my computer to check my google reader. I followed this link in Shawn's blog: http://sports.espn.go.com/espnmag/story?section=magazine&id=3789373&lpos=spotlight&lid=tab2pos1
about the story of two high school football teams. If you haven't read this yet, take a minute and do. It really drove home to me Jesus' words, "People will know my disciples by the love they have for one another" and "Love your neighbor as yourself." and "whatever you do for the least of these you do for me."
I just wish I had thought of it first. Way to go Rick Reilly!

Don't crush Jesus
I was reading Mark 3:7-12 tonight. Jesus is teaching and there are humongous crowds following him. They are coming from far away to hear him speak. In a time where travel was challenging and difficult. In a time where travel consumed a lot of time. And keep in mind that the people are leaving their crops....so there may be a great financial burden to the trip.
So check out vs. 9, "Jesus instructed his disciples to have a boat ready so the crowd would not crush Him." People are eagerly pushing and shoving to be able just to touch him and be healed. Are you that eager to reach Jesus? Right now? Would you push and shove just to get an instant with Him? I usually find myself trying to fit Jesus in somewhere amongst all my responsibilities instead of seeking Him with that level of eagerness seen in these verses. Pretty sure nobody has ever had to tell me, "Don't crush Jesus," because I was so anxiously pursuing Him.
So that is my thought, I want to be so passionate about Jesus that somebody has to tell me to back off, "Don't crush Jesus".

wii fit vs. wii trainer
Exercise is not my favorite. I am the queen of whining while I am exercising. Just ask the women that I worked out with every morning for several years. They joked about who would be the whiny butt whenever I had to miss.
However, I did recently realize that my physical limitations are more than just a lazy luxury on my part. I realized that my ability to be involved in ministry is definitely limited by my physical laziness. For example, say God needs somebody to go to Patagona. No way could I hike through the Andes mountains. Or on a more frequent basis....it's a killer to set up for church every Sunday when you are out of shape.
Okay....vanity too.... I don't like the fluffy midsection that magically appears in all my photos.
So...how to get in shape? What's effective for a lazy, unmotivated person? Well, I have tried everything at some point. Working out with friends is very effective for me, but my friends' schedules keep us from hooking up anymore. I attended exercise classes on a regular basis when the kids were little. But I have never been able to force myself to go to the gym alone, or to work out regularly by myself at the house. I can always find something else to do instead!
But, I'm giving it one more chance. I ordered wii fit and wii trainer. For those of you who are interested, wii fit is a video game based workout. You pick the game you want to play, and the game forces you to work out. The game keeps track of your weight, time exercised, and improved levels of fitness. I tried it out tonight... reluctantly. And after logging in over an hour of play time, I think I may like it. The kids ended up fighting me for turns on the thing. I had a great time, and am very sore. I will let you know how it all plays out in the end. Shawn hula hooping was awesome!!!!
Now for my opinion of the wii trainer. This does not require any extra equipment. It works similar to an exercise video. It also tracks your weight and fitness levels. It was not a "fun game" like the wii fit. However, it was superior to an exercise video in that it constantly adjusts the fitness program to meet your goals. Also adjusts difficulty based on your feedback. Not as cool as wii fit, but not a bad tool either. Much cheaper at $30 than the wii fit at over $100.
These are my initial impressions. I don't remember the last time I worked out for a couple of hours and wasn't whining. I'll keep you posted on the results. Especially after the new wears off and my schedule is back to its crazy self.
